The purpose of the pilot project is twofold: (1) design and produce an updated and enhanced image brochure for Amberth and (2) see how the collaboration works, from developing concepts to integrating with the team to implement the work.
The current brochure is 28 pages, and the aim is for the new one to have a similar page count. It will be primarily used in a digital context, but it still needs to be possible to be printed, i.e. a hi-res version as master document. The key difference is the modular design so that we can better serve different audiences, such as end-users, architects, and interior designers, by communicating the individual journey and the specific value proposition.
An additional internal goal is to explore possibilities to add interactive elements such as project videos or animations for future digital versions of the brochure. This should push the innovative attribute of Amberth, and surprise and delight clients.
Part of the brochure design process is to sharpen and refine aspects of the current brand guidelines, e.g. colour and typography, and how the brochure design might shape and lead the branding on social media.
The estimated investment for the above is £3,500.– excluding VAT.
Approach
The preference is to replace presentations with conversations. So, close collaboration in frequent short exchanges rather than a few presentations with ‘big’ reveals.
Main steps in designing the modular brochure:
0) Brief: Determine the requirements of the three audiences and their journeys ⇒ broad design direction in terms of content and look
1) Concept: sample pages for look-and-feel and page plan ⇒ copy brief, image collection, and decision on format and page count
2) Layout: the pages designed with the provided content (two rounds of revisions & corrections) ⇒ master version for end users plus two variants for architects and interior designers
3) Artwork: the Final Deliverable is a print-ready PDF and a low res versions of it for email attachment or download via a link ⇒ uploaded to the website and small print runs of 15 copies (TBC)
Timing
Execution effort is around 6—8 weeks; the actual duration depends on the decision-making. The prep work and research can commence in February (w/c 20th February). This initial phase includes reviewing the material and preparing a plan about how we would work together, i.e. breaking down tasks and responsibilities, sequence/timing and criteria to assess the efficacy of the teamwork.
Successful Collaboration
For a successful execution of the project, open and trusting cooperation is crucial and required. That also means that all shared information and developed results are treated confidentially. Due to our close and regular collaboration, it would only be necessary to document the essentials and not to create any further reporting. Any postponements or additional work will only take place after consultation.
